Pre-Algebra – Teaching Textbooks – Kelly Wood
This course covers many topics including scientific notation, metric unit conversions, rational
expressions, adding, subtracting, multiplying, & dividing algebraic fractions, powers,
polynomials, basic geometry, graphing, statistics & probability. Concepts for the week will be
studied in class along with completion of the lesson practice problems. Students will then be
ready to work assigned lessons and chapter tests at home. Homework is to be graded by the
student/parent. Parents should monitor their student’s homework each day making sure lessons
are completed. All tests will be graded by the teacher. Required time outside of class: 3-4 hours
per week
You will need to purchase the following: ( there are two options)
1) Purchase the Pre-Algebra Teaching Textbooks 2.0 student book & answer key/test bank only
2) Purchase the Pre-Algebra Teaching Textbooks 2.0 student book, answer/key test bank & and
CD-ROMS to see solutions worked out for every problem.

Notebook paper
Pen/Pencil
5 divider tabs (Notes, Help Sheets, Graded Homework, Tests/Quizzes, Parent/Student Forms.)
Additional materials will be printed and handed out in class.
Tuition is $450 for the year, split into 10 payments of $45 (due July 2018-April 2019). A
supply/printing fee of $25 is due in July. The first payment must include the supply fee.
Payment options:
1) Write 10 post-dated checks to be cashed at the first of the month (July 2018 – April 2019)
2) Set up bank draft to arrive at the 1st of the month
3) Pay for the entire year by semester (1st semester dated July 1: $250 & 2nd semester dated

Pre-Algebra - Teaching Textbooks – Kelly Wood
 

Required time outside of class  – 3-4 hours per week.

This course covers many topics including scientific notation, rational expressions, dividing algebraic fractions, powers, polynomials, and radicals, geometry, relations, functions, and graphing, statistics, probability, and inequalities, metric unit conversions, and more!

The students will follow the class syllabus throughout the year. Concepts for the week will be studied in class along with the practice problems. Students will then be ready to work assigned lessons and chapter tests at home. Homework is to be graded by the student/parent. Parents should monitor their student’s homework each day making students accountable to complete homework assignments. All tests will be graded by the teacher.

Each student will need the Pre-Algebra Teaching Textbooks 2.0 – Pre-Algebra: Text and Answer Key/Test Bank or Pre-Algebra: CD Combo (You may buy the book/answer key only, or the books with the CD if you like to review lectures and see every problem worked out, but not the CD only set.) This class will be offered at the 1488 Campus on Wednesdays from 8:45-10:15 a.m. Tuition is $450 for the year, split into 10 payments of $45 (due July 2018-April 2019).  A supply/printing fee of $5 is due in July.

Payment options: 1) Write 10 post-dated checks to be cashed at the first of the month (July 2018-April 2019); 2) Set up bank draft to arrive at the 1st of the month;   3) Pay for entire year by semester (1st semester dated July 1, and 2nd semester dated Dec 1, 2018).  NOTE: The first payment should include the lab fee. Algebra 1 - Teaching Textbooks - Corinne Park
 

Required time outside of class is 4 – 5 hours.

Teaching Textbooks is a unique math program written specifically for homeschoolers in an easy-to-digest conversational tone. This course covers simple equations, negative numbers, fractions, powers, roots, second degree equations, graphing, solving systems of equations, inequalities, and irrational numbers. There are two options for parents to choose from: 1) purchase book, answer key/test bank only or 2) additionally purchase the audiovisual CD’s to see solutions worked out for every problem. Please check the Teaching Textbooks web-site at teachingtextbooks.com.

How does this course work? First, students will follow the class syllabus throughout the year. Concepts for the week will be reviewed in class along with the practice problems for the week. Students will then be ready to work assigned lessons and chapter tests at home. Homework is to be graded by the student/parent. All tests will be graded by the teacher. Secondly, in-class quizzes will be given to monitor students’ progress. Grades will be kept on the schoology website for easy access. Finally, a one-time $20 supply fee is due upon registration. This fee will cover the printing of chapter tests and handouts given to students and parents throughout the year.

Pre-requisite: Pre-Algebra. Students should have a firm handle on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. They should be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions with ease before taking Algebra I. Required: A TI-30XS calculator (at minimum). Those that plan to take Algebra II and Geometry should consider buying a TI-83 Plus or TI-84 calculator for all 3 classes. Supplies: Students will need a 2 or 3 inch 3 ring binder with tabs.

Class is offered on Mondays from 8:45-10:15 a.m.

Algebra 2 - Corinne Park
Expected time outside of class each week needed for preparation and homework will average between 4 – 5 hours.

There are two options for parents to choose from: 1) purchase book, answer key/test bank only or 2) additionally purchase the audiovisual CD’s to see solutions worked out for every problem. Students should have passed Algebra I with a “B” or higher to be eligible for Algebra II.  Required:  A TI-83 plus or TI-84 graphing calculatorSupplies: Students will need a 2 or 3 inch 3 ring binder with tabs.  Instructions on setting up folder will be sent via e-mail in August.

quadrilaterals, polygons, trigonometry, circles, and coordinate geometry. Concepts for the week
will be studied in class along with completion of the lesson practice problems. Students will then
be ready to work assigned lessons and chapter tests at home. Homework is to be graded by the
student/parent. Parents should monitor their student’s homework each day making sure lessons
are completed. All tests will be graded by the teacher. Expected time outside of class each week:
4 – 5 hours.

Geometry can be challenging for many students. I do recommend the CD’s for this course.
